Why identification comes first

Before you upgrade RAM, replace a cooler, or trust a seller’s list, you need reliable component model detection. CPU-Z focuses on reading identity fields from the platform rather than guessing from chassis labels.

The four identification pillars

  • Processor identification — name, family, cores/threads, stepping, package
  • Motherboard identification — manufacturer, model, chipset, BIOS
  • RAM identification — type, size, frequency, channels, SPD
  • Graphics information — GPU name and basic specifications

Hardware specification lookup

Once models are detected, you can look up compatibility (CPU cooler fitment, RAM generation, GPU power needs) with far more confidence. Identification turns vague “16GB DDR” claims into concrete frequency, channel, and module data.

Inventory mindset
